NEWS FLASH!!
THE ALAMO OVARIAN CANCER ALLIANCE CONTRIBUTES FUNDS TO LOCAL OVARIAN CANCER RESEARCH ENTITY
Prior to the passing of our President, Sue Merrell, it was decided that we would make our final funds dispersal to a local
ovarian cancer research project. Dr. Curiel, of the Cancer Therapy & Research Center was chosen as the recipient. On Wednesday, May 7, 2008, members of the AOCA Board of Directors, led by our new President, Linda Tarver, made the presentation to Dr. Curiel. (See picture below). The contribution was given as a tribute to Sue Merrell. The donation will
signicantly advance Dr. Curiel's research towards treatment of women with ovarian cancer. Dr. Curiel shared exciting news
regarding research advances being made daily. He hopes to make San Antonio the center for ovarian cancer research.
THE ALAMO OVARIAN CANCER ALLIANCE WILL BE TERMINATING OPERATIONS IN THE NEAR FUTURE!
Before the passing of our President, Sue Merrell, the Board of Directors of AOCA voted to
end operations and combine our efforts with the San Antonio National Ovarian Cancer Coaliton
division. After considerable discussion, it was determined that the area around San Antonio
would be better served by combining our efforts into one organization. The national organization
of NOCC provides many benefits to its divisions.
As a result of our actions, we will divest ourselves of our funds by making a contribution to a
local research program and then end our operation. Some of our Board members, myself included,
have already joined the Board of Directors for NOCC-San Antonio. I will be serving as their Webmaster.
We certainly appreciate all the support we have received from all of you and ask you to continue
your support by supporting the activities of the NOCC-San Antonio. You can do so by contacting Amanda Gober
